Privacy Policy
Last Updated: July 26, 2025
The TL;DR (Plain English Version)
We value your privacy. Here's the deal in a nutshell:
- β We use your uploaded selfie ONLY to generate your roast. Thatβs it.
- β We DO NOT use your selfies to train our AI models. Ever.
- ποΈ Your original selfie is automatically and permanently deleted from our servers right after the roast is generated.
- π€ You control your account and any roasts you choose to save or share publicly.
1. Introduction
Welcome to Zingr AI ("we," "our," "us"). We are committed to protecting your personal information and your right to privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our website and services (collectively, the "Services"). By using our Services, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.
2. Information We Collect
We collect information that you provide to us, information that is automatically collected, and information from other sources.
2.1. Information You Provide Directly
- Account Information: When you create an account, we may collect your email address, username, and password. If you register using a third-party service (e.g., Google), we will collect information as permitted by that service's authentication service.
- User-Generated Content (Your Selfies): We collect the images you upload to generate a roast. This is the core of our service. As stated above, these images are processed transiently and are not stored long-term. Please see our Data Retention policy for specifics.
- Public Feed Content: If you choose to share your roast to our public feed, that content (the generated roast text, associated personality, and your original selfie) will be stored and made public. This action is optional and requires your explicit consent for each share.
2.2. Information Collected Automatically
- Usage Data: We automatically collect information about your interactions with our Services, such as the features you use, the personalities you select, and the time, frequency, and duration of your activities.
- Device and Log Information: We collect information from and about the device(s) you use to access our Services. This includes IP address, browser type, operating system, and other technical information. This helps us with diagnostics and security.
- Cookies and Tracking Technologies: We use cookies and similar tracking technologies to track activity on our Service and hold certain information to operate and improve our Services. You can instruct your browser to refuse all cookies or to indicate when a cookie is being sent.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use your information for the following purposes:
- To Provide and Maintain the Service: To generate your requested roast, manage your account, and provide customer support.
- To Improve and Personalize the Service: To understand user behavior and improve our service. Crucially, we do not use your uploaded images to train or improve our AI models. Our models are trained on separate, licensed, or internally generated datasets.
- For Security and Fraud Prevention: To protect our Services, our users, and the public from fraudulent, malicious, or illegal activity.
- To Communicate With You: To send you service-related announcements, updates, and administrative messages.
4. Data Retention and Deletion
Our data retention policy is designed for privacy and transparency:
- Uploaded Images (Selfies): Your original uploaded image is permanently deleted from our active servers immediately after the roast has been successfully generated and delivered to you. Cached copies may exist in secure, backup storage for up to 72 hours for disaster recovery purposes before they are also permanently deleted. They are never used for any other purpose.
- Generated Roasts: Generated roasts are linked to your account. They are stored until you choose to delete them, or until your account is deleted.
- Account Information: We retain your account information as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your information will be permanently deleted in accordance with our deletion cycle.
5. How We Share Information
We do not sell your personal data. We may share your information only in the following situations:
- With Service Providers: We share information with third-party vendors and service providers that perform services for us or on our behalf, such as cloud hosting (e.g., Google Cloud, AWS), AI model hosting, and analytics. These providers will only have access to your information to the extent necessary to perform their functions.
- For Legal Reasons: We may disclose your information if we are required to do so by law or in response to valid requests by public authorities (e.g., a court or a government agency).
- With Your Consent: We may disclose your personal information for any other purpose with your explicit consent (e.g., when you choose to post to the public feed).
6. Your Privacy Rights
You have certain rights regarding your personal information. Depending on your location, these may include:
- The right to access the personal data we hold about you.
- The right to rectify any inaccurate personal data about you.
- The right to request the erasure of your personal data (the "right to be forgotten").
- The right to restrict the processing of your personal data.
- The right to data portability.
To exercise these rights, please contact us at privacy@zingrai.com.
For Users in the European Economic Area (EEA) and UK (GDPR)
If you are a resident of the EEA or UK, you have the right to complain to a data protection authority about our collection and use of your personal information. For more information, please contact your local data protection authority.
For Users in California (CCPA/CPRA)
California residents have specific rights regarding their personal information. We do not "sell" your personal information as the term is traditionally understood. However, because the CCPA's definition of "sale" is broad, we provide the right to opt out. To make such a request, please contact us.
7. Children's Privacy
Our Services are not intended for use by children under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 16. If we become aware that we have collected Personal Information from a child under 16, we will take steps to delete that information as soon as possible.
8. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last Updated" date. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes.
